14-Year-Old Aaliyah Ramirez was last seen going to her bus stop on April 27th before she disappeared. This triggered a large-scale search by the Indiana State Police, and thankfully, the teen has found nearly four months later in Florida. It turned out, Aaliyah’s grandma and aunt were the culprit, and such as, they’ve been arrested and accused of kidnapping the teen and keeping her inside a hotel room.
Aaliyah Ramirez, 14, was last seen leaving her home in Syracuse for school on April 27 but didn’t make it there.
In particular, the thorough investigation led them to Palm Beach County, Florida, where Police have now arrested Allissa Sands, 25, and Elizabeth Sands, 47. Allissa is Aaliyah’s aunt, while Elizabeth is Aaliyah’s grandmother. According to the WPTV report, Aaliyah was located safe and alive, but the police didn’t give further details regarding the case.

The teen’s (the daughter of Ashi Aspy) disappearance rose to the limelight when it was aired on TV shows like Dateline and in Pursuit with John Walsh. A viral clip of her leaving her home on Parkway Drive to go to school filmed from a ring door camera was shared on the internet, and a social media campaign sparked online with the hashtag #FindAaliyahRamirez.

WNDU reported that Aaliyah’s dance instructor, Hailey Toy, who comforted the family for 4months, claimed she started shaking when she heard that the teen had been found. On April 30th, a silver alert was issued, just three days after Aaliyah went missing, and it remained active amid the search. Anthony, Aaliyah’s father, told Dateline NBC back in May that he believed someone had abducted his daughter, saying she wasn’t the type to have runaway.

“I just want my daughter back home. I want her found safe.” Anthony had said. However, the Syracuse Police Department and Indiana State Police have suspected Aaliyah to be in Palm Beach County with her other relatives, claiming they had also believed she might be in danger. On the other hand, Allissa and Elizabeth are both being held at Palm Beach County Jail, and as police have said, charges are yet to be filed against the women.
