This 97-year-old says that you are never too old to fight cancer and believes that her strong will to attend her latest grandson’s wedding is one of the main reasons she is now cancer free.
The pandemic had already delayed her latest grandson’s wedding, but 97-year-old Tennie Burket Ivy was determined to do it anyway.
Ivy was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2020, but she couldn’t imagine the idea that her latest grandson would not marry the love of her life. “I had to go to this wedding. I had been to all three, and it was in Greenville, South Carolina, and I said I had to improve because of that, ”Ivy said. “And I’ve never been sick. No problem.”
He endured operations, chemotherapy and radiation, but none of them clouded his mood. Ivy has not had cancer since Monday, October 11. “I pay tribute to the doctors, nurses and the Lord,” she said.
Although the pandemic delayed the wedding and her cancer diagnosis made her unsure whether she could attend, she exceeded all opportunities and can say that she saw all of her grandchildren marry.
Ivy believes that you are never too old to fight cancer and believes that thanks to her healthy lifestyle and strong will to attend the wedding, she got over it.
